About Blackridge

A Specialist Broker Built Around the Industries We Serve

Blackridge Insurance Services Ltd was founded on a straightforward belief: that businesses operating in complex, regulated sectors deserve a broker who truly understands their world — not one who treats them as a standard SME risk.

How We Work

Three Principles We Don't Compromise On

These aren't marketing claims — they're the practical commitments that shape every client relationship.

Sector depth before breadth

We focus on three sectors — care, contractors and property — because deep expertise in a narrow field is worth more to a client than shallow knowledge across a broad one. We know the insurer appetites, the regulatory pressures, and the claims patterns that define your risk.

Every submission is personally reviewed

No automated decisions. No offshore processing teams. When you send us your documents, a specialist broker reads them, identifies gaps and anomalies, and responds with considered advice — not a generic quote.

Claims advocacy is non-negotiable

The real test of a broker isn't at placement — it's when something goes wrong. We stay involved throughout every claim, challenge decisions we believe are wrong, and represent your interests until the matter is resolved. We don't disappear at renewal.

Our Sectors

Where We Focus — and Why

We chose these three sectors because each carries a level of complexity that the standard commercial market handles poorly. That's where specialist broking adds the most value.

CQC · Ofsted

Care & Social Care

CQC-regulated care homes, domiciliary care, assisted living and Ofsted-registered nurseries — each with distinct liability, staffing and regulatory risk profiles.

  • Safeguarding and abuse liability
  • PI for care planning decisions
  • CQC-triggered business interruption
  • Mixed employed/agency EL structures
  • NHS and local authority contract requirements
JCT · NEC · CAR

Contractors & Trades

Principal contractors, HVAC and M&E engineers, electricians, agricultural operators, flooring contractors and specialist trades across the UK.

  • JCT and NEC minimum requirements
  • Contractors All Risks structuring
  • Design liability and PI
  • Hired-in and owned plant
  • High-risk and notifiable works
Portfolio · Mixed-Use

Property Owners

Residential landlords, HMO owners, blocks of flats, commercial units, mixed-use freeholds and unoccupied property across all sizes of portfolio.

  • Portfolio block policy structuring
  • Underinsurance identification
  • Mixed-use freehold placements
  • Lender requirement compliance
  • Unoccupied and development cover
Our Process

What Happens When You Come to Blackridge

A clear, straightforward process — no jargon, no hidden steps, no pressure at any stage.

1

You submit your documents

Upload your current schedule, statement of fact and any relevant claims history using the form on your sector's page. If you don't have documents to hand, a brief form with key details is enough to start. We respond within 24 hours.

2

A specialist reviews your existing programme

We read your documents properly — looking for coverage gaps, underinsured areas, wording that doesn't match your actual operations, and limits that may have become inadequate. We'll call you to discuss what we find before approaching any insurers.

3

We approach the right specialist markets

We have established relationships with insurers who have genuine appetite and underwriting expertise in your sector — not general commercial markets. We present your risk properly, with supporting information that gets you the best terms available.

4

You receive a clear, honest comparison

We present what we've found — cover, limits, exclusions and premium — side by side with your current programme. We'll tell you plainly what's better, what's different, and what our recommendation is. There's no pressure to proceed.

5

Ongoing support — not just at renewal

Once placed, we stay involved. Mid-term changes, contract queries, certificates of insurance, and claims — all handled directly. You'll always reach the same person who knows your business, not a call centre.
